Breastfeeding Pain and Physical Issues on the Sunshine Coast

If breastfeeding is hurting, something isn't right- and it doesn't have to stay that way. Whether you're dealing with cracked and sore nipples, shooting pain in the breast and nipple, , or struggling to get your baby to latch comfortably, you're not alone, and there is real, practical help available close to home.

What might you be experiencing?

Breastfeeding pain and physical discomfort are among the most common reasons mums on the Sunshine Coast reach out for support. Some of what we see most often:

Nipple pain and soreness

Cracked, bleeding or persistently sore nipples are a sign that something about the latch or positioning needs a little attention. With the right adjustment, feeds can be comfortable.

Mastitis and breast inflammation

Redness, hardness, pain or warmth in the breast can signal a blocked duct, inflammation within the breast tissue or mastitis. Early support makes a real difference- this is something we can help you manage quickly.

Neuropathic nipple pain or Dysphoric Milk Ejection Reflex (DMER)

Both often misdiagnosed as thrush and often not considered or spoken about much in the lactation world however very real conditions that make breastfeeding challenging for many mothers. Finding out what is truly happening and getting the right support is important.

Engorgement

Engorged breasts can be uncomfortable and make it harder for your baby to latch. Getting the balance right between supply and demand is something we work through together.
